SKU: gen2-c-026-1-1

Course Aim

This course aims are to provide learners with the knowledge and practical skills to act in an emergency situation providing the casualty with critical lifesaving assistance until support arrives.

The qualification covers cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the safe use of an Automated External

Defibrillator (AED), primary survey, the recovery position and choking, and is delivered following the protocols set by the Resuscitation Council (UK) Guidelines.A learner will gain first aid knowledge and the practical competence required to be able to help someone and potentially save a life.

Course Duration

1/2 day.

Target Group

The qualification is available to learners aged 14 or over. It is recommended that learners hold a minimum of Level 1 in literacy or equivalent to undertake this qualification.

Due to the practical nature of the first aid assessment there are physical demands. To be awarded the regulated qualification a learner must be able to get to the floor unaided and successfully demonstrate all elements of the practical assessment on their own, as in a real-life situation, with the casualty on the floor.

The target group is SME or low risk organisations who from their First aid needs risk assessment require a basic amount of practical emergency first aid training. Or larger organisations who would wish for their staff to have first aid practical competence required to be able to help someone and potentially save a life.

Assessment

There is a written assessment paper and the practical demonstration of the first aid action plan for mental health, which the learner must successfully pass to be awarded the qualification.
