Associate Project Manager Apprenticeship Standard Level 4 - Enhanced (out of centre learner)

Course Aim:

This apprenticeship is ideal for candidates who are looking to gain an apprenticeship and nationally recognised qualifications in project management.  Project management apprentices learn how to plan and deliver projects within the time, cost, quality constraints.

Student Pre-Requisites:

Individual employers will set their own entry requirements for their apprentices. Typically candidates will have achieved a grade C or above in at least 5 GCSEs including English and maths (or new grading equivalent), and hold a minimum of 120 UCAS points, or new equivalent. Students will also be required to pass a Gen2 aptitude test.


Course Duration:

Typically this apprenticeship will take 24 months


Location and delivery model:

Training for this apprenticeship will take place at a Gen2 centre based in West Cumbria, Carlisle or Furness.

This apprenticeship is delivered with the employer in the workplace with block release at a Gen2 training centre in order to complete their taught components including:

  • Six weekly visits in the workplace to assess the apprentice competence and monitor progress
  • Pre Course assignment
  • Module 1 -Two day project management foundation workshop (Note: this module is additionality and is in addition to the scope of the apprenticeship standard)
  • Module 2 – 2 x 5 days PMQ Apprenticeship Delivery
  • PMQ exam
  • Apprentices will be required to have or achieve level 2 English and maths prior to completion of their Apprenticeship.

This apprenticeship is awarded on successful completion of the End Point Assessment.

  • Contract management and procurement

Delivery Plan and Commitment:

The qualification requires 20% of time from the student’s normal working week to be committed to the qualification for the duration of the programme. This time must be away from normal work duties and will be achieved as follows:

  • Typically 1 to 2 days per unit taught in a Gen2 centre. Usually delivered as 1 day per month over 24 months. In addition students are given a workbook to be completed off the job within the workplace (equivalent of 24 days over 24 months).

  • 12 weekly assessment sessions (half day each) throughout the programme to consolidate training and support portfolio development (up to 20 days). These sessions are pre-arranged at mutual convenience with assessor, employer and student at the employers premises.

  • A work based end project that will be presented to a panel and form part of the end point assessment. The project is based on a work related project during the last 6 months of the programme.

  • Ongoing work towards achieving the required standards of this apprenticeship including mentoring sessions, professional discussions, study time, employer organised training, site visits and maintaining a CPD log.
